Coaching Method

The needs of each company may be different and I will adopt a suitable approach in each case. I  use a modern non-directive approach, developed throughout my 'people - orientated' working life - as well as during my training as a professional coach. This technique has been proven to raise both the self- and group- awareness of individuals and help them take responsibility for their own beliefs, in order to change negative thinking to something much more positive. My coaching method:-

  • Examines  values.  These can be career-related  and / or personal,  whichever may be holding back an individual's optimum performance.
  • Defines and agrees goals. I deal with the issue of goals in such a way that those being coached are encouraged not to say 'if this can be achieved' but rather 'when this is achieved'. Where the goals appear to be too large, those being coached are taught to break them down into small steps, which actually makes the total task possible.
  • Moves people forward. I start by eliciting the realistic options available to those being coached. A programme is then agreed and the individuals or teams are helped to structure their required needs and activities to minimise distraction, diversion and "fire-fighting".
  • Positively builds individual self-esteem. Companies do not always recognise staff who have low self-esteem, as many people with this problem disguise it beneath an arrogant front. Improving self-esteem greatly enhances team work.
